Raise the Roof @ St James
St James Church will be a big part of MidSummer Muswell for the fourth year in a row. Just over the road from St James Square, we have lots to offer you.
Outside St James Church
You will be able to parachute your teddy from the parapet. At just £5 a go, your favourite ted will be raising funds for St James Church and CPotential. Teddy launches will be on the hour at 2, 3, 4 and 5pm!
Cool down with a slush puppy or treat a loved on to candy floss. We will of course have our every-popular bouncy castle too!
Come to the church centre to discover different community groups and information:
Hornsey Pensioners Action Group – The Hornsey Pensioners Action Group has been established in this area for more than twenty five years formerly as the Highgate and Muswell Hill Pensioners Action Group. We are a non-party political organisation affiliated to the National Pensioners Convention and the Greater London Pensioners Association. We campaign for the Pensioners’ Charter.
North London Waste Authority (NLWA) – Come along and meet one of our waste prevention officers to find out more about your local recycling services and how you can reduce your food waste at home. Food makes up a huge proportion of north London’s waste and research by WRAP has found that if the average family stopped wasting food, they could save up to £60 per month!
Officers will provide you with top tips and free tools to help you create perfect portions to avoid having a surplus!
Action for Kids – Action For Kids has been helping transform the lives of young people with physical and learning disabilities, across the country, since 1991, through the provision of mobility equipment, learning, training and support. Find out more at their community stall at MidSummer Muswell.
The Haringey Advice Partnership is a project led by Citizens Advice Haringey to ensure that people living in Haringey receive the right kind of information, advice and guidance when they need it.
We provide free information, advice and guidance on a range of issues affecting people living in Haringey – including welfare benefits, debt, housing, and employment – and a searchable directory to help you find local agencies to meet your need for advice services.
Wave Café is a creative space and café coming soon to Muswell Hill offering exciting arts experiences for everyone.
We are a social enterprise set up to bring people with and without learning disabilities together and to help build a truly inclusive community.
The arts and local cafés play enormously important roles in Muswell Hill and we believe in the power of a space combining both to foster inclusion in our community.
Inside St James Church
Join us for Guess the Weight of the Cake competition, WAVE cafe, entertainment on our inside stage, massage in the chapel and make a mosaic tile with Leona!
On our stage, we shall be entertained by:
Little London Ballet (outside stage sponsor) is a school of dance providing children from 18months through to 11 years quality technical dance classes. Once children reach 11 years old, they are invited to audition for our sister school “London Ballet Academy”. Through every age group and in every level we pride ourselves on our highly qualified teachers who continue to engage, inspire and add sparkle into their student’s lives through dance.”
Muswell Hill School of Performing Arts is an Independent Performing Arts School offering classes on Thursday’s, in drama, dance and singing tuition to 4 – 16 year olds in Muswell Hill. MHSPA aims to offer every child a fun and enriching experience, whether they have aspirations to be on the West End, or whether they just want to have a great time after school. Because we are not a franchise, our programme adapts to and develops with the kids we have at the time. We cater for working parents by offering local school pick-ups and a light tea, meaning kids can come straight from school and be in our care until 6:30. We offer Holiday Workshops and Children’s parties!
Perform – Unlike traditional stage schools, child development is at the heart of everything we do.
Rather than teaching rigorous techniques, memorisation and repetition to produce a ‘perfect performance’, Perform uses drama-based games, exercises, songs and dances in an imaginative and fun way to help boost child development.
